Bloomex and FlowerNite do the Ottawa Signatures Show!

Last weekend, the Ottawa Signatures Show celebrated their 35th anniversary at the Shaw Centre and Bloomex was there to join in the fun! Our beautiful Poinsettias decorated the venue with festive spirit and our FlowerNite team did live demos all week long. We were delighted to be invited to such an amazing event, surrounded by hundreds of Canada’s most talented artisans.

Our expert hosts were there leading workshops, helping guests make their very own flower arrangements that they later got to take home and share with their families. This is what FlowerNite is all about! Getting together with friends, having a night out and learning something new. FlowerNite events are held at restaurants and bars throughout Ottawa and the surrounding area and you can even book a private event for a special occasion. Book your event online at flowernite.ca.

Bloomex supports Bobsleigh CANADA Skeleton as they speed towards gold!

In 1877, the Swiss decided to attach a steering mechanism to a toboggan, giving birth to the first ever bobsleigh. Skeleton got its start in 1892 when Englishman, Mr. Child, surprised his friends with a new sled made mostly from metal and shot down the hill face first. Canada has been competing in this adrenaline pumping sport at the world level since the first Olympic Winter Games in 1924. Athletes plummet down a 1300m track made of ice at 150 km/h, navigating at least 15 curves and every millisecond counts. This is not a sport for the faint of heart!

Canada will be competing at the BMW IBSF World Cup 2018 Games in Whistler, November 24-25 at the Whistler Sliding Centre.

As Official Floral Partner to Bobsleigh CANADA Skeleton (BCS), Bloomex will be providing all florals for the BMW IBSF World Cup 2018 Games being hosted in Whistler, BC on November 24-25. 2017. The provision will include podium bouquets for race winners to be given during the medal ceremonies, as well as floral arrangements for the VIP areas at the venue

On November 1, Canada announced their teams for the BMW IBSF World Cup 2018 Games, kicking off in Lake Placid on November 4-5, 2017. The team will then go on to compete in the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang. Kaillie Humphries is returning to defend her gold medal title, piloting the women’s bobsleigh. Her teammates, 16 in the World Bobsleigh Team and  six in the World Cup Skeleton Team, have helped contribute to four Olympic medals, five World Championship medals and 18 World Cup podium appearances throughout their careers.

To help support these Canadian athletes, Bloomex will donate 15 per cent of every sale to BCS when customers use promo code BCS15 at checkout.

Bloomex joins Canada on the podium at Skate Canada International

The Skate Canada International was held in Regina, Saskatchewan this past weekend and Canada’s stars shone bright as they skated their way to gold. As the official florist of Skate Canada, Bloomex provided all the flowers for the event including podium bouquets, centrepieces, gift baskets and medalist bouquets.

It was a hugely successful weekend for our athletes as Canada won triple gold! Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir won for ice dancing, Kaetlyn Osmond took the women’s title and Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford won pairs. Somehow, between all the screaming fans and flashing lights, they still had time to stop and smell the flowers!

The medalist bouquets were made of stunning red Roses and snow white Fuji Mums, reflecting Skate Canada’s official colours and providing added tribute to our country.

Not only did Virtue and Moir win gold for their spectacular ice skating routine, they broke the world record (set by themselves in a previous competition) with a score of 199.86 - amazing!

Bloomex was also happy to provide extra large teddy bears for a fun Pass the Bear contest during the event. Some of the local school children who attended also received Bloomex teddy bears as part of their visit. Bloomex provided gift baskets for hard working volunteers and VIP guests, as well as flowers to brighten locker rooms, the arena, and other key areas of this International event. As always, it was a pleasure to be part of the exciting Skate Canada hosting! Our team had so much fun creating all the bouquets and arrangements.

Warm congratulations to all our amazing Canadian athletes.

Flipping for Flowers

Bloomex was proud to be a national sponsor of the 2017 Artistic World Gymnastics Championships this month as part of our partnership with many Canadian and international sports agencies and athletes.

It was so exciting to be a part of a world athletic event of this calibre! 500 athletes from 80 different countries gathered in Montreal to compete for gold and stand out in preparation for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. It’s unbelievable what some of these athletes can do!

With every medal ceremony, there needs to be flowers to present to the winners. And that’s where Bloomex came in. We stayed true to the colours of FIG themselves and created beautiful bouquets with blue Fuji Mums, white Alstroemeria and yellow Roses.

Doesn’t Canada’s Ellie Black look amazing holding her silver medal and Bloomex flowers? And the men look so handsome!

We also provided flower arrangements and tropical plants, worthy of a gold medal, which decorated the gymnasium, locker rooms and VIP lounge.

Our Montreal team tirelessly flipped, twirled and pole-vaulted to create the arrangements which consisted of white Fuji Mums, blue and yellow Roses, blue Alstroemeria and assorted greenery. Such a beautiful combination!

We had so much fun with this event and we are so proud of our athletes! If you love these arrangements and have a special event coming up, please contact our corporate events division and we would be pleased to make your own custom floral creations.

Bloomex joins the fight against breast cancer with CIBC Run for the Cure

It’s a disease that has touched millions of people’s lives. Everyone knows someone that has been diagnosed with breast cancer and it’s time for that reality to come to an end. Together with the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS), Bloomex is determined to change the future of breast cancer and put an end to this life-altering disease.

In 1992, a small group of volunteers gathered 1,500 people in Toronto’s High Park to run as a way to promote awareness of and raise funds for breast cancer. This run is now known as the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure. The event is Canada’s largest single day, volunteer-led event with around 85,000 participants raising $17 million annually.

Bloomex jumped at the opportunity to help fight, becoming a sponsor of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) and CIBC Run for the Cure again for 2017-2018. Bloomex also worked to coordinate deliveries of beautiful pink carnations to run sites across Canada, to help honour breast cancer survivors during special ceremonies on Run day. We were also on site in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver handing out fresh flowers and teddy bears to participants and spectators for any donation to CCS.

The crowds came in droves, dressed up in pink from head to toe, ready to run. Emotions were high but the positivity was palpable. It felt like they all knew each other, and in a way they did - they knew what it was like to be touched by cancer, knew what it was like to fight. Everyone came together as one big family to help support the people in their lives who have experienced a breast cancer diagnosis.

Whether they were running, walking, participating for a loved one or honouring someone who lost their fight, we cheered them on every step of the way. With 56 Run sites across Canada, CCS raised $17 million for breast cancer research and support programs - amazing! Bloomex was so honoured to be a part of such a great event!

Bloomex sponsors the Autumn Classic International as Canada skates to gold

International skating royalty gathered in Montreal, September 20-23, 2017 to take part in one of the most exciting competitions of the year, the Autumn Classic International. Athletes competed in a variety of events including singles, pairs and ice dancing, all of which Canada dominated.

Bloomex was delighted to provide all medalist bouquets and floral arrangements throughout the event. The flowers were presented to the medalists in gorgeous mixed fall colours to celebrate the season and popped beautifully against all the chiffon and glitter. We also love the way our flowers look beside all those shiny medals!
