Bloomex supports Koffler's Books & Ideas series featuring Bryan Washington

Bloomex was delighted to sponsor Koffler Centre of the Arts’ Books & Ideas series. We were happy to supply 6 beautiful yellow arrangements featuring snapdragons, gerberas, carnations and chrysanthemums.

Dubbed “the rising star of literary Houston” (Literary Hub), Bryan Washington is a National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 Recipient, the recipient of an Ernest J. Gaines Award, and the recipient of an O. Henry Award. His stories and essays have appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, BuzzFeed, Vulture, The Paris Review, Tin House, One Story, GQ, among others.

Adnan Khan has written for VICE, The Globe and Mail, and Hazlitt. He has been nominated for a National Magazine Award and in 2016 won the RBC Taylor Emerging Writer Award. There Has to Be a Knife (2019) is his first novel.

Koffler Centre of the Arts’ Books & Ideas series spotlights provocative writers, artists and thinkers, celebrating literary excellence and fostering critical dialogue through compelling book launches, author talks and on-stage interviews. With a thematic focus on counter-narratives, the series features books that employ fiction, memoir, and photography as tools of resistance.

The 2020 Books & Ideas series foreground authors and books that explore the complexities of gender, race, sexuality and the diasporic experience.

Help Bloomex Support Boys and Girls Club of Canada

Bloomex Canada is proud to help raise fund for Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada (BGCC) by setting up a special code which is active as of February 1, 2020.

The code BGCC provides a 15% discount on flowers and gifts at Bloomex.ca. In addition, Bloomex will donate 10% of product purchase for each order in which the code is input, to BGCC.

The fundraiser code is the first part of an ongoing partnership plan to evolve over 2020. In both March and August, Bloomex will offer the additional option to its customers to donate $2 at checkout to BGCC. Discussions are also underway regarding a Mother’s Day flower campaign at key Clubs in Canada.

The first ‘Boys Club’ in Canada was the East End Boys Club, founded in Saint John, New Brunswick in 1900. The Boys’ Club Federation of Canada was officially established in 1929, and evolved to become Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada in 1974.

Since 1900, Boys and Girls Clubs have opened their doors to children, youth, and families in small and large cities, and rural and Indigenous communities. If a young person needs it, our Clubs provide it. Learn more at bgccan.com and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram @BGCCAN.
