Bloomex printed 2704 cards that will be delivered with the packages this Holiday Season! The packages contain gifts that are uniquely Canadian to remind our soldiers of home while they are away.

Every year thanks to community involvement from Canadians, Operation Santa Claus delivers holiday packages to deployed CAF members worldwide. People like 12-year-old Alexandra Warman, are the reason troops are reminded how much we appreciate and are proud of them for serving our country.

Alexandra Warman and her family were inspired to write letters to our Canadian Troops after watching the movie, Megan Levi, a film about a soldier returning from Afghanistan with PTSD and her struggle to return to civilian life. "I'm sure this isn't much," Alexandra writes, "but I know that every little bit can make a difference. Which is why I am supporting Operation Santa Claus."

You can show your support for our troops too, by creating a free Bloomex greeting card today!

Up Close & Unplugged with Ed Robertson

We had an amazing time at the Up Close and Unplugged event benefiting Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation and National Arts Centre Foundation on November 8! This exclusive, invite-only event was held at the National Arts Centre (NAC) in downtown Ottawa. As Official Floral Provider of the NAC, Bloomex created vibrant centrepieces to help decorate the event.

Cocktails began at 6 p.m. in the Studio lobby of the NAC. The evening continued as guests were invited to enter the Studio, decorated in a pinballl theme for the occasion, where a sumptuous three-course dinner was enjoyed.

Ed Robertson of The Bare Naked Ladies was the inspiration for the pinball-themed event as he is a known pinball enthusiast. The guests were entertained with Ed's intimate "unplugged" performance, enjoying the chance to meet the star and get to know him. The evening was a big success, raising over $191,000.

Bloomex was proud to support these great causes by supplying all the flower arrangements for the event. The flowers were used to accent the colourful pinball theme. The vibrant orange gerberas, roses and carnations made the green button mums pop, in contrast to the shining yellow daisies and elegant red roses. The purple stock tied it all together.

Canada Hosts the World at Skate Canada Internationals

We had a great time at Skate Canada Internationals on October 26-28 at Place Bell, Laval!

This annual event sees Canada host skaters from all over the world at a weekend of amazing competition.

As official florist of Skate Canada, Bloomex was delighted to provide all the medalist bouquets for the winners as well as centrepieces for the official dinner in a beautiful mix of autumn colours to reflect Canada's vibrant fall season.

In the VIP lounge, this year's theme was rustic chic. Bloomex created custom mason jar arrangements with beautiful white and green wildflowers which decorated barn board pallets.

During intermissions the audience enjoyed participating in the Pass the Bouquet. The crowd tosses a bouquet while music plays; when the music stops, the person holding the bouquet wins the prize. School children visiting the competition also got to enjoy the Bloomex Teddy Bear Toss which featured our very own Bloomington Bear!

The first Skate Canada International was held in 1973 in Calgary and was added to the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating in 1995, the year the series began. The 45th installment of Skate Canada International was Laval’s first time hosting a major skating event which attracted elite skaters from across the globe.

We want to extend a warm congratulations to all of the Canadian athletes including Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier who took home the bronze medal in ice dancing.

Good Luck to everyone at the Grand Prix Figure Skating Final in December!
