Bloomex Australia has pledged to donate 100% of profits from all January sales to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery fund, to assist with bushfire relief efforts.
Australia is still combating some of the worst bushfires and drought conditions in recent history. Hazardous smoke has affected even major cities like Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.
Our thoughts and sincere condolences go out to all those affected by the devastating bushfires. The losses created by these fires is monumental and we would like to thank all the support workers, firefighters and relief organisations who continue to work tirelessly in an effort to combat the suffering. The Red Cross has been instrumental in responding to the ongoing crisis and we want to assist their efforts.
As fires continue to rip through Australia, at least 24 people have been killed. More than 15.6 million acres torched. Over 1,400 homes destroyed. The Red Cross has responded to over 30 emergencies since July 2019, some of which are ongoing for weeks. Its relief efforts have supported over 18,600 people, through the efforts of more than 1,590 volunteers and staff.
Nearly 18 million acres of land have been destroyed across Australia, much of it was bushland and forest that was once home to this country's beautiful wildlife, including kangaroos, koalas and countless birds, reptiles and other mammals. According to Stuart Blanch of WWF Australia, many animals were well-adapted to cope with fires, but the current blazes were just too big and too hot for the creatures to escape from.
Around 8,000 koalas are believed to have died, putting them on the endangered species list. There are also huge fears over the western ground parrot, the eastern bristlebird and the Kangaroo Island dunnart.
All flower and gift sale profits from Bloomex.com.au in the month of January will be donated to this effort. People who wish to donate directly to the Red Cross can also do so by clicking here.
