Blooms for Breasts

It’s time to think pink!

Thousands of people across Canada laced up their sneakers, dressed in pink and ran for breast cancer this past weekend in the 27th annual CIBC Run for the Cure. This event brings together mothers, daughters, husbands, cousins and best friends who know someone with the disease or knew someone who lost their battle. They all run because they envision a world without breast cancer.

Bloomex once again donated pink carnations to be handed out to breast cancer survivors at Run sites across Canada. We were so honoured to be there and everyone looked truly beautiful!

The CIBC Run for the Cure began in 1992, with a small group of volunteers in Toronto’s High Park. Today, it’s the largest single day, volunteer-led event in the support of the breast cancer cause.

This year, 82,000 Canadians from 56 different communities raised an estimated $16.2 million for breast cancer research and support programs to ensure no one faces breast cancer alone. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian women. The CIBC Run for the Cure provides patients, families and friends the chance to honour loved ones while making a promise to make breast cancer beatable.

Thank you to everyone who came out to show their support and raise money for this meaningful cause.

The Run always helps kick-off Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. Bloomex has launched a very special Pink Ribbon Collection to help raise money for the cause. Shop the Collection at bloomex.ca.

Don't forget to donate $2 to the Canadian Cancer Society at checkout! You could help beat breast cancer every time you purchase flowers for the month of October. All funds raised will go directly to help support life-saving research.

Lets make breast cancer beatable!

Bloomex honours Daniel Nestor as Team Canada fires up for next year

This past weekend was a Canadian tennis lover's dream! A nail-biting Davis Cup by BNP Paribas play-off tie between Canada and Netherlands, superb athleticism and a heart-warming tribute to a Canadian tennis legend. What more could you ask for?

How about a win for the home team? You've got it!

Canada clinched its spot in the world group for the Davis Cup Finals qualifier set for February 2019.

Denis Shapovalov won his match against Robin Haase and Milos Raonic dominated 27 year-old rookie Scott Griekspoor in a 3-1 win to advance Canada to the Finals qualifier.

Daniel Nestor played the final match of his career, his 53rd Davis Cup tie. He has represented Canada more times than any other player in history. Teamed up with Vancouver’s Vasek Pospisil, the duo eventually lost against Matwe Middelkoop and jean-Julien Rojer of the Netherlands.

In an emotional farewell, Nestor thanks his fans, family and teammates for all the support during his outstanding 26-year career. He received a standing ovation and lots of cheers as he fondly remembered his time as one of Canada’s tennis greats.

Nestor was also welcomed into the Canadian Tennis Hall of Fame in a heart-warming ceremony. To make it extra special, his two daughters presented him with a plaque and bouquet of flowers from Bloomex to mark the occasion.

As a proud sponsor of Tennis Canada, Bloomex supplied all florals for the venue as well including tropical plants for the court, stunning arrangements for hotel rooms and elegant centrepieces for the VIP lounge.

Good luck to Team Canada at the qualifiers in February!

Celebrating women at the Heart & Stroke Red Dress Gala

Bloomex had so much fun sponsoring the 7th annual Heart & Stroke Red Dress Gala at the Palais des Congres de Gatineau on August 25, 2018. The gala honours the dedicated volunteers and fundraisers who work tirelessly to help the Heart & Stroke Foundation raise money for important heart disease research.

Femininity, force, courage and determination are the driving forces behind the Red Dress Gala. Every women there had a remarkable story to tell about her experience with heart disease and stroke. Simply saying these women are brave is a massive understatement.

Our long-stemmed red roses were handed out at the event to everyone who attended as an added thank-you for their commitment to raising money and awareness for heart disease.

"The Red Dress represents women's courage and passion and their power for change as they share the truth with others and raise awareness about the importance of heart health in women," said Jo-Anne Swanson, heart survivor and lead volunteer at Heart & Stroke.

Each lady looked absolutely stunning in red and we couldn’t have been more proud to be part of such a wonderful evening.

See you next year!

Here we grow again!

It’s been a fun summer and we are about to enter another very busy holiday season! To get ready, we have opened a brand new production facility in Cambridge, ON to help better serve our loyal customers. This means more flowers, and gift baskets and teddy bears… Oh my!

As the demand in southern Ontario continues to grow, a new Bloomex facility was needed to address the huge volume of orders in the GTA and Niagara region. Our Toronto production is the largest of our facilities in Canada, located in the east side of the city. The addition of the new Cambridge location will boost the efficiency, accuracy and speed of order processing and delivery to our customers in this highly populated area west of Toronto.

We will now be able to serve cities such as Kitchener, Waterloo, London and Guelph much more efficiently...AWESOME!

We want to thank our customers, without which this expansion would not be possible! Our growth is because of YOU and we are so grateful. Keep ordering flowers and we promise to keep delivering smiles!

Honouring a tennis legend

Bloomex was honoured to be a part of Daniel Nestor’s retirement ceremony prior to Rogers Cup, which took place August 5-12, 2018. The star-studded gala took place at Roy Thomson Hall as the tennis world watched one of its best be inducted into the Canadian Tennis Hall of Fame.

Our talented florists created elegant and trendy centrepieces of succulents and cacti to accent the sophisticated decor. They were simple, streamlined and let the guest of honour shine!

Nestor is one of Canada’s most decorated tennis players winning 12 grand-slams, an Olympic gold medal, 95 titles and was No.1 in doubles for 108 weeks. He also has an appointment to the Order of Canada and a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. No wonder the CBC considers him the ‘Wayne Gretzky of tennis’

Nestor will play his final match at Davis Cup by BNP Paribas in September when the Netherlands come to Toronto. He will continue to work with Tennis Canada next year and influence the next generation of tennis greats.
