Bloomex honours Daniel Nestor as Team Canada fires up for next year

This past weekend was a Canadian tennis lover's dream! A nail-biting Davis Cup by BNP Paribas play-off tie between Canada and Netherlands, superb athleticism and a heart-warming tribute to a Canadian tennis legend. What more could you ask for?

How about a win for the home team? You've got it!

Canada clinched its spot in the world group for the Davis Cup Finals qualifier set for February 2019.

Denis Shapovalov won his match against Robin Haase and Milos Raonic dominated 27 year-old rookie Scott Griekspoor in a 3-1 win to advance Canada to the Finals qualifier.

Daniel Nestor played the final match of his career, his 53rd Davis Cup tie. He has represented Canada more times than any other player in history. Teamed up with Vancouver’s Vasek Pospisil, the duo eventually lost against Matwe Middelkoop and jean-Julien Rojer of the Netherlands.

In an emotional farewell, Nestor thanks his fans, family and teammates for all the support during his outstanding 26-year career. He received a standing ovation and lots of cheers as he fondly remembered his time as one of Canada’s tennis greats.

Nestor was also welcomed into the Canadian Tennis Hall of Fame in a heart-warming ceremony. To make it extra special, his two daughters presented him with a plaque and bouquet of flowers from Bloomex to mark the occasion.

As a proud sponsor of Tennis Canada, Bloomex supplied all florals for the venue as well including tropical plants for the court, stunning arrangements for hotel rooms and elegant centrepieces for the VIP lounge.

Good luck to Team Canada at the qualifiers in February!
