In previous Bloomex Power of Flowers giveaways, we explored themes such as who you are thankful for, and whose hard work you wished to recognize.We so enjoyed your entries!

Now Valentine's Day is almost here, and love is in the air! 

Send us a photo or video of whoever you love this year,  or better yet, of the two of you together! Maybe it's your husband or wife, your partner or S.O., your dog, bestie, your child, or even your hamster. 

Show and tell us who you love and why, and be entered to WIN! 

This month's prize is a fabulous Valentne's Day package that includes 1 dozen boxed roses, an adorable Bloomington teddy bear, delectable chocolates and a Valentine's Day card. Keep for yourself or we will deliver to your person!

FlowerNite by Bloomex at the Home and Remodeling Show

You heard right! FlowerNite by Bloomex was delighted to be back at the Home and Remodeling Show this past weekend at the EY center in Ottawa! Our talented Bloomex team provided FREE flower workshops all Saturday for lucky participants.

We were so happy to be able to visit with the people of Ottawa and teach them to create a personal masterpiece using flowers! 

On Saturday Bloomex held 3 workshops with 4 people who were taught how to put together a Winter Wonderland Arrangement by our experienced host. The centrepieces were a beautiful mix of snapdragons, delphiniums, spider mums, roses and carnations. 

All of our guests were able to leave with a beautiful arrangement and great tips for making their own arrangements at home or when hosting their next get together. A huge thank-you to the directors of the Home and Remodeling Show for having us-- we had a blast!

Bloomex goes to St. John for CTNSC2019!

Bloomex was pleased to supply the medalist bouquets for this year's Canadian Tire National Skating Championships in St. John, New Brunswick as part of its duties as Official Florist of Skate Canada!

Check out this video of Alaine Chartrand in an interview holding Bloomex's bouquet in Saint John, New Brunswick. Chartrand soared from fifth place to win the women’s gold.

In the men’s event, Nam Nguyen landed his seven jumps to open his free skate for the gold. Stephan Gogolev of Toronto, has become the youngest Canadian men’s champion ever at 14, stealing silver. Keegan Messing of Sherwood Park, Alberta, took third.

Moore-Towers, from St. Catharines, Ontario and Marinaro, from Sarnia, Ontario won gold in pairs to with 202.75 points. Bloomex was thrilled to present them with their medalist bouquet as well!

Heart and Stroke is promoting women's heart disease during the month of February. Women are under-researched, under-diagnosed and over-dying. It's time to close the research gap and stop women dying unnecessarily. It's #TimeToSeeRed

8/10 cases of premature heart disease are preventable through healthy lifestyle behaviours. Which means 2/10 cases were not preventable, so know the signs. Some signs can show as: Chest Pain, Sweating, Upper Body Pain, Nausea, Shortness of Breath, or Light-headedness.

A Timeless Tale with RWB and Bloomex

Bloomex was able to rediscover the magic of childhood with Nutcracker this year with RWB! As the official florist of Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet, we were honored to be a part of this year's production by providing beautiful bouquets for the dancers onstage.

In this classic story, as the clock strikes midnight the adventure of a lifetime begins. Before the final curtain falls, Clara finds herself on a storybook journey that takes her into the heart of a timeless fairy tale, sees her battle the evil Mouse King and fall in love with her dashing Nutcracker prince.

This year's magnificent production featured a cast of characters of all ages from the RWB School and Company. The magical Tchaikovsky music was showcased in its full glory by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and accompanied by a live choir whose voices soared as Clara and her Prince began their journey.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, Bloomex is now pleased to be the performance Sponsor of this year's Romeo and Juliet.This beautiful ballet takes place from February 13 - 17, 2019 at the Centennial Concert Hall.

What in Tarnation is a Carnation?

The Carnation is the Flower of the month for January. This gentle, intricate bloom is a beautiful addition to any flower bouquet or a powerful statement on its own.

There are three main types of carnations that we see regularly. The first is a Large Flowered Carnation. This carnation has 1 large head with up to 40 petals coming from one stem. This type can also have smaller buds below. Second we use Spray Carnations, which are a smaller head but can also have up to 40 petals in 1 bloom, with multiple stems and  blooms per stem. Lastly we have Dwarfed Flowered Carnations, these blooms have multiple blooms per 1 stem and have a smaller head, with only 5 petals per bloom.

Carnations have become increasingly more popular due to the wide variety in available colours. Carnations in general have a general meaning of fascination, but with every colour there is a special meaning.

Pink Carnations carry the greatest significance. It is believed that they first appeared on earth from the Virgin Mary's tears – making them the symbol of a mother's undying love.

Purple Carnations represent capriciousness. They also usually convey condolence for an unfortunate circumstance.

Dark Pink or Light Red Carnations are presented to express tenderness and fondness. In some cases, they can also be used to express sentiments of blooming love on a first date.

White Carnations, when presented to someone, conveys the message of pure love and prosperous life. It can be presented to elders on their birthdays or to someone starting something new in life for good luck as well.

Yellow Carnations are the perfect choice for a break up or to give to your enemies. This cheery shade is sometimes used to represent rejection or disappointment.

Striped Carnations represent the regret of missing someone or the refusal of sharing one's love.

Green Carnations express their true self around St. Patrick's day. A beautiful bloom with a true green colour.

Red Carnations, much like red roses, simply expresses deep love and affection to the recipient.

Whether you have a special message to give or simply sending a "Thinking of you" bouquet, carnations can say it all!
