Bloomex Sponsors Skate Canada Nationals

It was an exciting weekend in Ottawa last week with the hosting of the Canadian Tire National Skating Championships at TD Place. 

This always-superb skating event took place January 16 - 22 and was enjoyed at the venue and through TV coverage on both TSN and CTV in addition to live stream. Canada's top skaters converged on the nation's capital to compete for gold, treating us all to amazing skating routines in the process. 

Kaetlyn Osmond and ice dancers Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir broke Canadian records in their short programs on Friday night. 

Osmond landed three triple jumps, including two in her opening combo, and earned a Canadian record 81.01 points in the women's event. Moir and Virtue set a Canadian record in ice dance short program Friday night as well and were crowned senior champions on Saturday. 

Pairs skaters Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford took the gold for pairs for a record sixth national title win, with another dazzling routine.

Patrick Chan once again took gold for the men, earning his ninth national title, while in women's Osmond triumphed. Gabby Daleman took silver and last year's champion Alaine Chatrand earned bronze.

As official florist to Skate Canada, Bloomex was again on hand to help sponsor Nationals by providing all flowers, teddy bears, gift baskets and medalist bouquets for the event.

A red and white theme for all the beautiful flowers paid homage to the Skate Canada colours. Flowers helped accent the venue as well as the dressing rooms and VIP lounge. Gift baskets for VIIPs and the hard working volunteers were also well received. Our Bloomex Ottawa team did an outstanding job!

On Thursday, several hundred local school children were treated to some amazing skating...as well as to the fun Bloomex Teddy Bear Toss! 

Friday night saw another fun Bloomex event at TD Place with "Pass the Bouquet by Bloomex" in which people in the stands passed a large bouquet until the music stopped and the prize was won. 

Congratulations to all our amazing Canadian skaters for their effort and polished performance at the 2017 Nationals! Bloomex was delighted to be part of it and to lend its continued support to Skate Canada. Enjoy these warm memories of another successful skating event!

Now that the busy rush of the holidays is over, it’s time to relax. What better way than with a wonderful night out at the movies?

The passes will admit two people to a special, advance screening for the brand new movie 20^th Century Women starring Annette Bening, Elle Fanning and Greta Gerwig along with other amazing cast members. This wonderful dramatic comedy follows the story of three women of different ages who explore love and freedom in southern California during the late 1970s.

The always-superb Annette Bening plays single mother Dorothea Fields, who is trying to raise her son James during this time of turbulent social change and cultural rebellion. She enlists the help of two other younger women: Abbie, a free-spirited artist boarding with them, and Julie, an outspoken teenage neighbour.  A warm, charming and absolutely delightful story is the result, and we know you will love it!

Bloomex Supplies Flowers for Skate Canada International

The 2016 Skate Canada International proved to be another exciting skating event for international and domestic skaters alike. This year's event took place at Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario and hosted many of the world's top skaters. Skate Canada International is the second of six events in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series. Skaters compete for qualifying points as well as cash prizes. Our Canadian skaters did superbly!

For the ladies event, it was Evgenia Medvedeva of Russia who took gold (landing seven triples!), while Canada’s Kaetlyn Osmond took the silver medal with a beautiful skate to "La Boheme." Satoko Miyahara of Japan skated off with the bronze.

In the popular ice dance division, Canada's own Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir took gold, while Canada's Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford took gold in the spectacular pairs event.

In men's competition, Canada's Patrick Chan also skated off with the gold medal.  

As official florist of Skate Canada, Bloomex once again had the privilege (and the fun!) of designing and supplying all the flowers for this event. The Skate Canada event team requested red and white "Canadian" themed bouquets and event flowers. 

The podium bouquets were a beautiful combination of deep red roses, white spider mums, white chrysanthemum daisies and assorted accent greens to provide a striking combination enjoyed by all the winners. 

Bloomex also provided a visual boost to the venue with flowers for key areas such as registration, skater's and VIP lounges and the "kiss and cry" area. This year's event also saw a fun crowd activation set to music, with a "Pass the Bouquet by Bloomex" event in which some lucky winners took home a beautiful Bloomex bouquet of their own.  Bloomex was happy to also provide gift baskets and hotel bouquets to welcome and thank key volunteers and VIP's to the event. 

Bloomex also supplied bright and colourful dinner centrepieces to warm up the evening celebrations.

Bloomex Supplies Flowers to One Young World Event

Ottawa was proud to host this year's One Young World conference for 2016, and Bloomex was delighted to be part of this prestigious international event!

This important international symposium hosted approximately 1300 delegates who represent some of the brightest young leaders from around the world. They gather to make lasting connections, to foster positive changes, and formulate innovative solutions for a variety of pressing global issues. The Summit is also host to some of the best business minds from top global companies, as well as from leading universities . 

One Young World Summit is also a host to a line-up of very well known world leaders who act as Counsellors. Past year's Counsellors have included famous faces such as Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Sir Bob Geldof, Kofi Anan, Sir Richard Branson, Jamie Oliver, Jack Dorsey and Arianna Huffington.

This year's event was held at the Shaw Centre in beautiful downtown Ottawa. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau conducted the opening ceremony at Parliament Hill and urged the young delegates to "create a future that we will all be proud of."  

Singer songwriter Cher was on hand to launch her new campaign to help animals in captivity. Actress Emma Watson was another of the very special guests.

The event itself was organized by internationally renowned event planning company George P. Johnson, who were tasked with creating a VIP lounge where delegates, counsellors and special guests could work or relax. 

Bloomex was delighted to provide all the flowers for this beautiful space! The organizers wanted florals to coordinate with the OYW logo, that would accent the work tables, the entry and the lounge area. 

The Bloomex Ottawa team created some gorgeous florals in blue and white with yellow accents, including large sprays, table centrepieces and modern cube accent bouquets for the lower cocktail tables. Flowers consisted primarily of white, yellow and blue roses, white lilies, white spider mums, white carnations, gladiolas, with accent greens such as ruscus, aspidistra, ferns, and eucalyptus. 

Guests enjoyed the very pretty floral touches as they relaxed and mingled in the lounge space. The modern cube vases provided the perfect decorative touch for the low tables without occupying too much of the available space for drinks and snacks as guests interacted.

The spectacular four-day event concluded with speeches and an exhilarating display of Colombian music, dance and culture in tribute to next year's hosts. One Young World 2017 takes place in Bogata and should be another wonderful success. Bloomex is delighted to continue as a Silver Ribbon partner with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation for 2016. October is Breast Cancer Action month in Canada. To help support the vision of a future without breast cancer, Bloomex has created another special Pink RibbonCollection for 2016.
